We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for
out-of-town teams for the 1st ever bonspiel hosted by the Loose Ends
Curling League out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The BLUENOSE BONSPIEL will
be held at the Mayflower Curling Club September 3-5, 2010 (over Labour
Day weekend).

We wanted to get the word out for registration before April when many
curlers start thinking of Spring and Summer activities. Some benefits
to this bonspiel:

Registration for the Over the Rainbow Bonspiel 2010 has reached 36 teams; however, two spots are still being held for local teams until Sunday, Feb 21 at 7:00pm, at which point the spots will be offered to the out of town registrants currently on the waiting list.

Only 5 days left to secure your spot in the most popular gay and lesbian spiel in Canada! (Seriously... you might think I'm biased as the Co-Chair, but look at how quickly our registration keeps filling up every year!)

The Rainbow Rockers Curling League is proud to present the Fifth Annual Over The Rainbow Bonspiel in Ottawa, March 26 - 28, 2010.

Registration for out-of-town teams will be opening soon at www.rainbowrockers.com/OTR2010_Registration. You will receive more details in the coming weeks.

Get your team together and plan to return to Ottawa for a weekend of fun, friends (old and new) and most importantly, curling!

The Les Fous du Roi (The King's Jesters) Curling Club will hold its 2010 bonspiel February 12 to 14 at the Longue-Pointe Curling Club. Host to major competitions because of it's great ice conditions, Longue-Pointe is the perfect venue for their fun weekend!

The organization that brought you the Nationals last year is at it again: one of Montreal's finest restaurants, Le Petit Extra, will be catering the Saturday night banquet at the renowned Lion d’Or, a great hall located in the Village.

The Great Canadian Theatre Company is presenting "BASH'd! A Gay Rap Opera" in January (running from Jan 12 - 31). This is a high-energy, fast-paced and fun musical that has won many awards, toured the North American Fringe Festival circuit and had a 3-month Off-Broadway run.

GCTC has group discounts available, so we are trying to get groups together on one of two nights: Tuesday, January 19 at 8:00pm and Saturday, January 23 at 8:30pm. As long as we have 10 people on each night, tickets are only $25 (compared to the regular price of $42).

Folks,

I regularly curl in the The Leatherworks Open Cash Bonspiel with my Mixed Team from the Rideau CC and we had an email yesterday indicating that they are still looking for 3 teams. This is a GREAT spiel, lots of food, fun and some SERIOUS curling! Nothing like walking in and seeing the reigning Brier Champions playing on your sheet the draw before you! (Happened to us a couple years ago when Jean-Michel Ménard was champ!)

If you are interested in truly testing your team, this is a great spiel with alot of fun and in a GREAT club (ie.) GREAT ICE!

There is still room in both draws for the Opening Funspiel on October 4 at 3:00pm and 5:00pm. The event is free and will end with a pizza dinner at 7:00pm. To register, send an e-mail directly to Kevin Falkingham at kfalking@hotmail.com, please specify:

2. The draw time you would prefer
3. The position you would like to play

It is with our deepest regret that we announce that our leauge member, Steve Jamieson, has lost his brave fight against cancer this past Wednesday. Steve was friends with many of our league members, both on and off the ice. For those who had the opportunity to play with Steve, you'll know what an excellent curler and respectful sportsman he was. His passing is a significant loss, not only to our curling family, but to the community at large. We send our thoughts and prayers to Steve's family and his many friends.
