2010-2011 Season Information

On behalf of the 2010-11 executive committee, I would like to welcome all new and returning members to another great season of Rainbow Rockers curling. This year, we have 28 teams that will be competing in four divisions (A-B-C-D). There will be three rounds with each team will playing six games per round. All teams will have one bye per round. Team rosters, rules of play, season calendar, curling etiquette and other important information will be posted to www.rainbowrockers.com before the end of September. Please check the website frequently for league information. Please verify your contact information and keep it up-to-date by logging into the members section of the website.

START OF SEASON
Our regular season begins on Sunday, October 17. This year, we will be playing three games on Saturdays (November 6, January 15 and February 26) in addition to our Sunday schedule. Sunday draw times are 1 PM, 3 PM and 5 PM. Saturday draw times are 2 PM, 4 PM and 6 PM. Keep your calendar free following Saturday curling as we will be hosting our very popular Euchre nights at the curling club on all three Saturdays.

FUNSPIEL
As a sneek peek to the season, we are hosting a funspiel on Sunday, October 3. If you missed signing up at the Meet and Greet, please send an e-mail to President@rainbowrockers.com to confirm your participation. There are limited spots available - first come, first served. Please indicate if you would like to curl at 3 PM or 5 PM. Pizza will be served at 7 PM and of course, the Ottawa Curling Club will have the kegs tapped for the season and the bar will be open!

SKIPS MEETING
To explain important league information, including changes that have been made to the spares rule, all skips are required to attend a preliminary skips meeting 20 minutes prior to your game on October 17. Please meet in the lounge. It is critical that you attend so that you can pass along this information to your teammates.

VICE-POSITION OPEN
Although full-time membership in the league is full, one team in D-Division has an opening for an experienced player to play third. This is a perfect opportunity for someone with front-end curling experience who would like to learn the vice-position. Please contact membership@rainbowrockers.com if you are interested.

New players are welcome to join to the Spares List at any time, so if you have friends who are interested in joining as a spare, please have them contact Kevin Wilson at membership@rainbowrockers.com. To curl with the Rainbow Rockers, all players must either be full-time members or REGISTERED spares.

2010-2011 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
A big thanks to our dedicated executive committee who have been hard at work all summer getting ready for the season. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the executive for league information. As Ottawa is hosting the 2011 Canadian Gay National Curling Championships in March, we will be relying on a full team of volunteers and sponsors to help us deliver this marquis event! We welcome your participation!
