HALIFAX'S BLUENOSE BONSPIEL - LE BONSPIEL « BLUENOSE » à HALIFAX

We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for
out-of-town teams for the 1st ever bonspiel hosted by the Loose Ends
Curling League out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The BLUENOSE BONSPIEL will
be held at the Mayflower Curling Club September 3-5, 2010 (over Labour
Day weekend).

We wanted to get the word out for registration before April when many
curlers start thinking of Spring and Summer activities. Some benefits
to this bonspiel:

(1) It is out of the regular curling season and doesn't
conflict with either regular curling season play or other GLBT
bonspiels, and
(2) The best time to visit Halifax is in the summer season!

We have a facebook page

basic schedule of activities, registration and travel information.

We are aiming to have a maximum of 24 teams for our first bonspiel,
and given that our curling club has six sheets of ice - we are
considering a round-robin format - giving players more games than the
minimum standard three-game tournament.

For the entry fee of $400/team - each team will get a number of
curling matches, a banquet dinner on Sunday night, and entry to a
number of social events.

Please note that we are trying to schedule the weekend so that each
team gets either Friday morning or Saturday morning off, so that you
can enjoy some tourist sites (or sleep) before the afternoon curling
matches.   Our Opening Ceremonies will be held 12:15pm on Friday
afternoon.  The Dinner Banquet will be held late Sunday night (after
7pm) and no activities are planned for Monday to allow teams to travel
back home after an action packed weekend on the East Coast.

This year's host hotel is the Marriott Waterfront, located on the
Halifax Waterfront in downtown - close to many lively pubs,
restaurants, and historic properties. Their special rate for the
weekend is $149/night by quoting "Bluenose Bonspiel" or "Loose Ends
Curling".  Their website is

To register for the Bluenose Bonspiel, we ask that you go to
http://www.looseends.ca/bluenosebonspiel, fill in the PDF registration
form, print it out, and mail it along with your cheque (payable to
"Loose Ends Curling League") to the following address:

Please note that no registration will be considered complete until a
cheque has been received.  Once your cheque has been received, we will
send you an email informing you that your registration has been

Nous sommes ravi de vous annoncer que les équipes extérieures pourront
s'inscrire à la première édition du bonspiel « BLUENOSE» organisé par
le club Loose Ends Curling d'Halifax. Ce bonspiel se déroulera au
Mayflower Curling Club du 3 au 5 septembre 2010 (fin de semaine de la
fête du travail). Deux bonnes raisons pour y venir :

(1) c'est hors de la saison regulière de curling donc pas de conflits
avec les ligues regulières ou autres bonspiels GLBT; et,

(2) la meilleur saison pour visiter Halifax c'est l'été!

Nous espérons recruter 24 équipes afin d'avoir un format "round robin"
- ce qui donnerait plus de jeux que le minimum trois jeux typique des
bonspiels.

Le prix d'entrée du bonspiel est $400/équipe, ce qui inclu plusieurs
matchs, un banquet pour le souper dimanche soir et entrée à un nombre
d'évènements sociaux.

Notez que dans la mesure du possible, on organise les matchs que les
équipes reçoivent soit le vendredi ou le samedi matin sans match. Les
cérémonies d'ouverture seront à 12h15 le vendredi. Le banquet de
clôture aura lieu après 19h00 le dimanche soir et rien n'est prévu
pour le lundi afin de permettre le voyage retour après un bon séjour
sur la côte est!
