Reminder- Pride Parade Marchers Needed
Submitted by Drew Patterson on Mon, 08/24/2009 - 09:04
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. We just wanted to keep you updated on upcoming Pride week events, and remind anyone interested in marching to get in touch. See below for upcoming events. Happy Pride everyone.
PARADE DAY - August 30
Last year, the Rainbow Rockers marched in Capital Pride for the first time! It was quite an honour to carry the Rainbow Rockers banner and show our curling pride to the City of Ottawa. It was a blast and all involved had a great time. We hope to have even more participants this year, so come out and show your Rainbow Rockers Pride! Marchers should meet no later than 12:30 PM at the staging area (Garden of the Provinces area near Albert and Bronson).
Too shy to march, then stand along the parade route and cheer us on! For more details, or to let us know you plan on marching please contact our Promotions Coordinator, Drew Patterson at promotions@rainbowrockers.com.
BOCCE & BBQ - Wednesday August 26
Ever played bocce ball? Never heard of bocce ball? It doesn't matter - all that matters is this fun, easy to learn "summer curling" game will kick off the Rainbow Rockers Pride Week activities on Wednesday, August 26 at 6:30 PM sharp.
Our awesome Treasurer, Steve (and his terrific partner, Scott) have graciously offered to host the evening at their house at 221 North River Road. In addition to Bocce (that will be played on nifty, manicured lawns at the park across the street), there will be a tasty BBQ to satisfy both carnivore and herbivore appetites. The cost is only $10 per person and includes unlimited soft drinks / juices ....You are more than welcome to BYOB!
Bring your friends, however, so we have an idea of how many people will be attending, please RSVP to president@rainbowrockers.com before Saturday, August 23.
Keep a close eye on your e-mail (or www.rainbowrockers.com) in the coming weeks for important announcements on our annual Meet and Greet event tentatively set for September 17th and the kick off to the 2009-2010 curling season on October 4th!
See you at Pride!
