GUIDELINES FOR TEAMS

1.
Unless otherwise noted, the CCA Rules of Curling for General Play will apply.

2.
All games are 8 ends.

3.
During the round robin, the winner of the coin toss will have the choice of last rock in the first end or rock colour. Please note that, in Ottawa, it is traditionally the lead that tosses the coin.

4.
Scoring during the round robin:
a) The Winning Team will receive ten (10) points, and the Losing Team will receive zero (0) points. In the case of a tied game after 8 ends, each team will receive five (5) points.
b) Each team will receive one point per end in which they score. Blank ends are halved, giving each team a half (1/2) point.
c) The teams will receive a ½ point for every point scored to a maximum of five (5) points.

  • Team A gets 10 points for the win, 6 points for ends won, and 5 points for scoring 10 points in the game, for a total of 21 points.
  • Team B gets 2 points for the ends won, and 1 ½ points for scoring 3 points in the game, for a total of 3 ½ points.

5.
At the end of the Round Robin, the total score accumulated after the three (3) pool games will determine the final position in their respective pool.

6.
Teams will be seeded by qualifying position according to total points accumulated during the round robin. If two teams are tied in points, a coin toss will determine the position. The team with the last name higher in alphabetical order will call the toss.

7.
In the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Finals, the team with the higher qualifying position will have the option of last rock in the first end or rock colour.
