Welcome to the 2011-12 Season
Submitted by Colin Crance on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 21:39
Greetings to all new and returing Rainbow Rockers members!
Welcome to another great year of Rainbow Rockers Curling. Please continue reading for some important announcements to kick-off the season.
Opening Fun Game - Sunday, October 2
There is still limited space for both the 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM draw for the opening funspiel. For those new to the league, this is a fun game where we mix up the teams and have a regular game to help us get back into the swing of things. Following the 5:00 PM draw, complementary pizza will be served to all participants. Please e-mail Colin at President@rainbowrockers.com before Friday to register. First come - first served.
Season Opener - Sunday, October 16
The regular season gets underway for most teams on October 16. The first round schedule will be posted to the website (www.rainbowrockers.com) on or before October 1. (Please see: http://www.rainbowrockers.com/sites/default/files/RRCL_2011_Round_1_Sche... - Webmaster)
Canadian Gay Curling Championships
Vancouver is playing host to this year's GLBT curling championships on February 3-5, 2012 during their annual Pacific Rim Curling Bonspiel. The new facility is ready following its post-Olympic makeover so it promises to be a great weekend. Ottawa is entitled to send two teams to this year's nationals. If playdowns are necessary, they will be played the weekend of December 17/18. To determine if playdowns will be required, teams interested in participating must express an interest before October 31, 2012. Please contact our drawmaster, Patrick Peloquin at drawmaster@rainbowrockers.com and provide the names of all team members. Should three or more teams express interest, playdowns will be held to determine the Rainbow Rocker's qualifiers. If only one or two teams express interest by October 31, these teams will represent Ottawa (subject to eligibility rules).
Upcoming Clinics
In addition to the beginners clinic this coming Sunday, October 2, an Intermediate clinic and strategy clinic are planned for later this fall. Watch your e-mail for more details shortly after the start of the season.
Have a great season and GOOD CURLING!
