OTR and CGCC Rules
Rules for both the 2011 CGCC & OTRB
- Unless otherwise noted, the CCA Rules of Curling for General Play will apply. A copy in both English and French is posted in the Club.
- All games are 8 ends.
- During all games, the winner of the coin toss will have the choice of last rock in the first end or rock colour. Please note that, in Ottawa, it is traditionally the lead that performs the toss.
Rules Specific to the 2011 OTRB
- Scoring during the round robin:
a) The Winning Team will receive ten (10) points, and the Losing Team will receive zero (0) points. In the case of a tied game after 8 ends, each team will receive five (5) points.
b) Each team will receive one point per end in which they score. No points are awarded for a blank end. Should a game be conceded, the winning team will be awarded a point for each end not played.
c) Teams will receive a ½ point for their points scored to a maximum of five (5) points.
- At the end of the Round Robin, the total score accumulated after the three (3) pool games will determine the final position in their respective pool. The 1st place team in each pool will qualify for “A”, the next highest score qualifies for “C”, the next highest qualifies for “D”, and the last place team qualifies for “E”, regardless of the point count in the other pools.
- Should there be a tie within a pool, the tiebreaker format will be head-to-head record, followed by most ends won in the head-to-head game, followed by most ends scored over the three (3) pool games, and finally a coin toss where the team with the last name higher in alphabetical order will call the toss.
- Teams will be seeded by qualifying position according to total points accumulated during the round robin. If two teams are tied in points, a coin toss will determine the position. The team with the last name higher in alphabetical order will call the toss.
- Spares are allowed, but only that they must NOT have been listed on a registered team. Spares may curl for multiple teams.
9. All rules are subject to the interpretation of the rules committee whose decisions are final.
